Cultura Estartit

The cultural pulse of Torroella de Montgrí-Estartit is rhythmic and varied. Art, culture and heritage place the municipality on a par with the most important cultural destinations in Catalonia.

A land of painters, sculptors, writers and photographers, it has generated a cultural dynamism with the presence of private foundations and art galleries that have established themselves in the municipality, turning its streets into a veritable open-air cultural circuit.

Museums:

-Mediterranean Museum:

A space that opens the doors to discovery and knowledge of the human space of the Mediterranean, starting from the territory of the Montgrí Massif, the Baix Ter plain and the Medes Islands. Its proposal invites reflection on the relationship between people and the sea that unites civilisations.

-Casa Galibern – Mascort Foundation:

This is a late 19th-century colonial-style mansion that hosts exhibitions and conferences based on three pillars: knowledge and study of history, understanding and enjoyment of art, and defence and protection of nature.

-Palau Solterra – Vila Casas Foundation:

A 15th-century building with Renaissance and Noucentista decoration, the Palau Solterra houses one of the most important collections of contemporary photography from the Vila Casas Foundation, with works by national and international artists.

Art Galleries:

-Atrium:

A space for critical reflection, displaying the works of visual artist Joan Carles Roca, located in the historic centre of Torroella de Montgrí, this space invites dialogue between art and thought.

-Michael Dunev Art Projects:

Gallery dedicated to international contemporary art with monographic exhibitions by renowned artists. Located in a restored 17th-century house in the historic centre of Torroella de Montgrí.

-Traç d’Art:

A cultural space that hosts temporary exhibitions and art collections by emerging and renowned contemporary artists, located on the Estartit seafront promenade.
