Roca Maura: one of the most beautiful viewpoints in l’Estartit

Roca Maura is a mountain belonging to the Montgrí Natural Park that enjoys a privileged location. It is a wonderful place to enjoy spectacular views of various parts of l’Estartit.

The Roca Maura viewpoint is located 225.4 metres above sea level. This is why it offers unbeatable panoramic views of the town of l’Estartit, the Medes Islands and the Aiguamolls, among other places.

A bit of history…Did you know that there used to be a fortification here in ancient times?

The castle of Rocamaura or Roca Maura is mentioned in the records of the possessions of the Counts of Empúries between the 11th and 12th centuries. However, today there are no visible remains of this fortification.

How to get to the Roca Maura viewpoint?

From our apartments in l’Estartit, we think autumn is the ideal time for walking routes. Temperatures have dropped and walks are more pleasant than in the summer heat.

So, if you want to visit the viewpoint but are unsure how to get there, we recommend you read on. We explain various details to take into account, as well as the difficulty and approximate time it takes to climb.

First of all, it should be noted that the route is not difficult (there are no extreme slopes or paths that complicate the itinerary). However, as with any excursion, we recommend that you wear suitable sports footwear for climbing.

The approximate time is 1 hour and a half, plus any stops that each person may need to make. However, this duration will vary depending on the starting point and the physical condition of each person.

You will find more information about the route to follow at the following link.

From the top, you will enjoy an unparalleled panoramic view of the Costa Brava coastline, the Empordà fields and the intense blue of the Mediterranean.
An ideal place to disconnect, breathe fresh air and connect with nature.

Take advantage of these autumn days to go on a different kind of excursion, recharge your batteries and enjoy one of the best views of l’Estartit.
