Options for getting to l’Estartit
Car
Torroella de Montgrí and L’Estartit (6 km apart) are located in the centre of the Costa Brava, which means they are very well connected to other coastal towns, as well as to Girona, Barcelona and the French border via the AP-7 motorway (exits 5 or 6).
Train
All trains running on the line from Barcelona to the French border stop at Flaçà station, 16 kilometres from Torroella de Montgrí, except for some express trains such as the Talgo, which only stops at Girona and Figueras stations, 45 and 39 kilometres from l’Estartit, respectively.
Figueras-Vilafant and Girona have AVE stations connecting Paris, Barcelona and Madrid via the high-speed rail system.
Bus
If you want to get to l’Estartit by bus, SARFA and AMPSA offer regular services from Barcelona, Girona and the main towns on the Costa Brava.
By plane
The closest international airports to Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit are Girona-Costa Brava and Barcelona. The former is located 51 km from Torroella and the latter is about 150 km away.
By boat
The marina and fishing port of l’Estartit enjoys a privileged location: protected by the Montgrí coast and in an area of cruise ship traffic covering the France-Barcelona-Balearic Islands-southern Spain route. In the middle of the port you will find the Club Náutico del Estartit, founded in 1961, which covers some 16,000 m2 and has capacity for more than 700 moorings, with boats up to 25 metres in length, winter storage services, a sailing school and sports facilities.
Bike
From Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit, you can access many cycling and mountain biking routes to discover the magnificent landscapes of the Montgrí Natural Park, the Medes Islands and the Baix Ter in a sustainable way. Some are sections of longer routes such as the Pirinexus, which reaches the Pyrenees, or the Ter Route. You will also find others that will allow you to discover the Empordà plain and its surroundings: Baix Empordà Cycling Network, Natura Local, Baix Empordà Regional Council Routes.
