“Festa de l’Home dels Nassos” – December 2019
In Torroella de Montgrí, as well as other places in Catalonia, the “Festa de l’Home dels Nassos” is celebrated, recovering a tradition from the sixties and seventies.
The 31st of December is the day that “l’Home dels Nassos of Torroella de Montgrí”, an emblematic character who has as many noses as the days of the year, leaves the Chapel of Sant Antoni with the last nose he has left to walk through the city of Torroella de Montgrí and greet young and old.
Its purpose is to symbolize the year that ends and that we leave behind to welcome the new year. He does it with his big nose, going through streets and squares of the town, to remember the course of the year (beautiful moments, boring, fantastic, magical, difficult,…) and review the hopes placed in the new year.
