The Covid-19 has significantly increased fish and shellfish in the Illes Medes reserve -June 2020

The consequences of the Covid-19 have spread harshly in the Catalan fishing sector, due to the strong safety and hygiene measures demanded by the government and the closure of its main customers (fishmongers, bars and restaurants). However, this fact has led to a significant increase in the number of fish and shellfish in the Illes Medes reserve. The protection enjoyed by the fish within the reserve and the fact that there has been no fishing activity for several weeks, has meant that many species have clearly increased in number and average size within the Illes Medes marine community.
