The Torre del Rellotge (known as the \u2018perola\u2019) is one of the best known and most interesting buildings in l’Estartit.<\/p>\n

This unique landmark is located in the centre of l’Estartit: Calle Santa Anna. This street is one of the busiest areas in the town, as it is home to a variety of shops and businesses that attract visitors to take pleasant strolls there.<\/p>\n

From functional tower to local landmark<\/h2>\n

During the 19th century, the Torre del Rellotge was a key location for this town because it was where the cotton nets used by fishermen were dyed. This process of dyeing the fabric\u2014specifically to a darker color than the original\u2014was essential to make the fabric more suitable for fishing.
\nThe tower remained in operation until approximately 1890, when this practice ceased to be carried out in the traditional manner.<\/p>\n
